PRESS: Hypocrites, yellow journalism

| March 16, 2016 9:00 PM

Re: “Gun Fight Brewing Over Constitutional Carry” headline — There goes the Press again (!) “Saying” one thing, but “doing” another.

How many times have we heard/read/been lectured at, that “the level of inflammatory rhetoric is out of control” in regards to issues of the day and “we need to tone it down”? Then the Press turns around and gives us “Gun Fight Brewing...” in the so-called reporting of the debate over this legislation, escalating the level of the rhetoric itself! Seriously?

Your reporter, editor, or whoever decides on the headlines, couldn’t try to be neutral by saying “Intense Debate Over...”. No, they HAD to play “cutesy” with the implication of threatened violence ala “yellow journalism” because “that” gets people’s attention, right? And then you wonder why circulation is down. Have you thought at all that it might be partially due to the biased, sensationalized “reporting” like this?

“Maybe” this could be excused by leading an editorial in this way, but a front page story? No one is surprised by your paper’s lack of scruples, standards or shame anymore, that’s apparently “situation normal,” but we are increasingly sick of the hypocrisy.
