COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Breana Burke struck out 11 and walked none in a five inning perfect game, helping the Coeur d’Alene Vikings beat the Bonners Ferry Badgers 19-0 in the nonleague opener for both schools on Tuesday at Larry Schwenke Field.

“We were just happy to be outside,” first-year Coeur d’Alene coach Darren Taylor said. “It was a typical first game for both teams, but we showed some good patience at the plate. Bre looked very sharp for her first game of the year.”

Kaylin Donovan had three hits and three runs scored and Kylie Smith and Miranda Amos drove in three runs each for Coeur d’Alene, which hosts Sandpoint on Thursday at 3 p.m.

COEUR d’ALENE — Jonny Plum had two hits and scored three runs and Nathaniel English and Jayce Bailey combined on a no-hitter, leading the Vikings past the Badgers in the season opener for both schools at Ted Page Field.

“We pitched the ball really well, and anytime you score 11 runs, it’s a good day,” first-year Coeur d’Alene coach Nick Mahin said. “We did everything we needed to OK, and had a no-hitter. But we walked eight guys. All in all, we did everything well for the first game of the season and got outs when we needed them.”

Caleb Beggerly hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning for Coeur d’Alene, which hosts Sandpoint on Thursday. Coeur d’Alene scored 8 of its 11 runs with two outs.
