Habitat set to break ground for 41st home

| March 16, 2016 9:00 PM

Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho is set to break ground for another new home in Post Falls.

This will be the nonprofit’s 41st home built in Kootenai County.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, on East 15th Street, between Post and Lincoln. The community is invited to join Habitat for Humanity for this event. Once the house is completed it will become a home to the Huffman family. The Huffmans have put in more than 300 Sweat Equity Hours toward building their new home.

“This year is the 25th anniversary of the first Habitat home completed by volunteers in Kootenai County. It is such a joy to see community members supporting each other through this program,” said Dan English, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho.

Habitat for Humanity is a global, ecumenical housing ministry that seeks to build safe, affordable, and decent housing for low- to moderate-income residents in local communities. The ultimate goal of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate substandard housing and end homelessness by building adequate and basic housing. In addition to the 40 homes Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho has built in Kootenai County, more than 80 existing homes have been revitalized through the organization’s “A Brush with Kindness” program.
