1946-2016

Loving husband, father, brother-in-law and friend, William “Bill” Kenneth Stoller, 70, passed away at the Hospice House of North Idaho on Saturday, March 5, 2016, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

Bill was born on Feb. 12, 1946, in Elsinore, Calif., as the only child of Kenneth and Marylu Griffin Stoller. His father was a senior flight test engineer with several aviation defense contractors, so Bill grew up moving with his family and attending various schools in desert communities of the Antelope Valley and graduated from Palmdale High School in Palmdale, Calif., in 1964. He received his degree in criminology from Fresno State University in 1968.

During the Vietnam War era, he served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserves in the military police unit. Bill began his career in 1970 with the California Department of Justice as an undercover narcotics agent in Fresno, Calif. He rose to the position of Special Agent-in-Charge of the Bureau of Investigation, retiring in 2000.

Bill married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Bunn, on Jan. 26, 1974, at St. John’s Cathedral in Fresno. They were joined in life by two sons: Randall William and Scott Kenneth.

In 2001, Bill moved with Shirley to Hayden Lake, Idaho, and built their dream retirement home on a forested hill overlooking the scenic Hayden Lake. Bill enjoyed his love for collecting and restoring antique clocks, cars and single cylinder engines. In recent years, he served as a docent for the Museum of North Idaho and was a member of Chapter 53 of the NAWCC (antique clock club).

Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley; sons Randall of Fresno and Scott of Hayden Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at the Elks Lodge in Coeur d’Alene where he was a member — date and time are pending — and a graveside service at Clovis Cemetery in Clovis, Calif., followed by a reception at the VFW Hall in Clovis.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Bill’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
