Stanley (Bud) Smith, 88

1928 – 2016

Lifelong resident of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Bud is survived by his wife of 68 years, Caroline Smith; son Joe Smith and wife Susan of Anchorage Alaska; grandchildren Brian Smith and Jamie Smith of Puyallup, Wash.; niece Sandra Knapp, husband Dick of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Dorothy Smith of Coeur d’Alene and sister Claudine Kallwick, also of Coeur d’Alene.

Bud graduated from Coeur d’Alene Senior High — class of 1946, thereafter serving in World War II as a Sergeant in the Military Police of the 720th MP BN in Japan followed by a second tour of duty in the Korean conflict as an electrical auto mechanic, his chosen profession.

With his father, Miles Smith, they owned Miles Texaco gas station for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He also worked at Robideaux motors both full time and part time in the service department. Favorite pastimes included home building, woodworking, golf and playing cards. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of North Idaho or the Holy Family School of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
