Sims announces re-election bid to House Seat 4B
Rep. Kathy Sims is seeking re-election to Idaho House Seat 4B.
“My goal in serving in this position has always been to listen, to read and to help the folks in District No. 4 fight against higher taxes and over-regulation,” Sims wrote in a letter launching her campaign.
Sims, a Republican, has been a business owner in Coeur d’Alene for more than 40 years. She served on Idaho’s Human Rights Commission by appointment by former Gov. Phil Batt. She is elected to the Idaho Auto Dealers Board and worked with the prosecuting attorney’s office as a juvenile diversion counselor.
In the Idaho Legislature, Sims sits on the House Interim Committee on Urban Renewal. She serves as vice-chairman of Idaho’s Local Government Committee.
“I was able to draft and see passed in the House a tuition work-off program for some students in North Idaho to allow them to graduate and begin a career with less student debt,” Sims wrote. “Education is always important to our future. NIC is a prize for District No. 4 and we will work hard to see its continued success.”
Sims served in the Idaho Senate from 2001 to 2002.
