Cheatham seeks re-election to House Seat 3B
Rep. Don Cheatham, R-Post Falls, announced his bid for re-election to House Seat 3B in the Idaho Legislature.
District 3 includes Post Falls, Rathdrum and small parts of Worley and Coeur d’Alene.
Cheatham is completing his first term as a legislator.
“After retiring, he wants to continue giving back to his community,” wrote Cheatham’s wife, Lynn, in an announcement sent to media. “Being retired has allowed him to devote his efforts to this endeavor full time.”
Cheatham, and his seatmate Ron Mendive, have attended roughly 75 meetings when they’re not in session, Lynn wrote. “The two have met with health care providers, numerous meetings for Coeur d’Alene-Spokane River Basin Adjudication, utility companies, Idaho Division of Veterans Services, education, business community, forestry, Judicial Branch, Water and Soil Conservation, the public — to name just a few.”
Cheatham’s work history includes, most recently, a position with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a regional director for the southwestern U.S. He previously worked in corporate security for Bank of America where he was promoted to vice president and regional manager in the protective services division. Before that, he served nearly 25 years with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Cheatham served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Los Angeles and a California Community College Lifetime Limited Teaching Credential. He was also a licensed Realtor, private investigator and held a Certified Protection Professional in the American Society of Industrial Security.
His platform issues are aimed at improving education options, voting to improve business growth, supporting the Second Amendment, state and individual rights, assisting veterans, promoting fiscal responsibility and being pro-life.
