TRUMP: What he believes

| March 4, 2016 8:00 PM

There are a lot of things to not like about Donald Trump and if we are going to pick on his campaign we ought to stick with those. In the Press Tuesday, March 1, the Associated Press article by Julie Pace and Jill Colvin, quoting Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, stated that if the Republican Party was to select Donald Trump, some would have to consider starting a third party.

“If our party is no longer working for the things we believe in — like defending the sanctify of life, stopping Obamacare, protecting the Second Amendment, etc. — then people of good conscience should stop supporting that party until it is reformed,”

You would think that the Associated Press would be more careful in their reporting. This article has been picked up word for word by many news sources. But, even a casual survey of the Internet reveals what Donald Trump has said in his own words.

1. Donald Trump says he is pro-life (though maybe not always as strong as now).

2. Donald Trump has pledged to repeal Obamacare.

3. Donald Trump strongly supports the Second Amendment.

Again, as I said, there are a lot of things to not like about Donald Trump, but we ought to make some effort to stick with the truth.

Ask yourself why so many people are supporting Donald Trump. Is it just possible that he represents a lot of Americans who are not really true to their own convictions and he promises some hope against a federal government that has gotten far from the provisions of the Constitution?
