Phillip M. Briner, of Coeur d’Alene, died Feb. 20, 2016, at Life Care of Coeur d’Alene. Philip was born in Waterloo, Iowa, May 2, 1934. After serving in the Korean War he married his wife, Jean, and the raised five children in California.

Phillip was devoted to working with at risk children and teenagers. He and wife Jean had the opportunity to change many young teenagers lives for the better with their unconditional love and compassion for giving of their time and energy.

The one thing that Phillip enjoyed each year was the opportunity to dress up as Santa Claus. It didn’t matter if it was for work, special functions or family events. He just loved the idea of bringing joy to children of all ages. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Stella; his wife, Jean and oldest son Greg. He is survived by his son, Jerry, Skip, Chris and his Wife Lisa; and his daughter, Mindy and Husband Mike. He had nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Briner Family would like to thank Phillip’s friend and companion Joy for her companionship, love and friendship to their father. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016. Service will be held at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 3598 N. Harvard, Ottis Orchards, Wash., (509) 926-3591.
