Downtown pub crawl to benefit local ALS foundation
Coeur d’Alene resident Matt Wild, a friend and neighbor to many in the local community, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis on Feb. 12, 2015.
Thankful for his own excellent medical benefits provided by the Veteran’s Administration, the former Marine and construction supervisor was shocked by the financial burden and transportation problems faced by many other people with ALS he met in support groups and advocacy meetings.
With help from his family and friends, Wild founded the nonprofit Matt’s Place Foundation to assist other ALS patients and their families with living expenses, mobility costs and home accessibility improvements as they battle this disease.
Matt’s Place Foundation will host a pub crawl fundraiser in downtown Coeur d’Alene from 5-10:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, to support Matt’s Place Foundation and our local people with ALS, called PALS.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Sports Cellar or Nosworthy’s Hall of Fame for $25, or on the day of the event at the Coeur d’Alene Eagles on Sherman Avenue.
The entry fee includes a Pub Crawl card that will be stamped by participating venues. Visit the Moose, Iron Horse, Beacon, Rocker Room and finish up at the Eagles Ballroom at 8 p.m. for a concert with Colby Acuff, Justin Sherfey and band, plus drawings, a silent auction and appetizers.
Completed cards with stamps from all the establishments on the route will be entered into the grand prize drawing.
All proceeds will benefit Matt’s Place Foundation, a 501(c)(3) private charitable foundation providing services, housing, funding and support for those afflicted with ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases. For more information visit www.mattsplacefoundation.com or call (208) 755-0799.
