Coeur d'Alene sewer rate increases take effect April 1

COEUR d'ALENE — Coeur d'Alene is in the middle of a series of multi-year sewer rate increases, which take effect April 1.

The final year of the increases is 2018. The increases were approved by council in 2013. They are necessary to pay for the bonds needed to finance improvements to the city of Coeur d'Alene Wastewater Treatment Plant to meet new permit requirements to reduce oxygen-demanding contaminants discharged into the river.
