LEGION BASEBALL: Lewis-Clark sweeps Northern Lakes

RATHDRUM — The visiting Lewis-Clark Twins finished a North Idaho League doubleheader with a combined 30 hits, beating the Northern Lakes Mountaineers 8-5 and 13-4 on Wednesday at Gorton Field.

“Lewis-Clark is one of the best hitting teams I’ve seen,” Northern Lakes coach Al Bevacqua said. “Our kids showed a great deal of grit tonight. I couldn’t be prouder of them.”

In the first game, Seth Villanpando drove in two runs and both Dalton Strong and J.J. Mackesy had two hits each for Northern Lakes. Andrew Neilson drove in a pair of runs in the second game for Northern Lakes.

It was the league opener for Lewis-Clark.

Northern Lakes (7-11, 2-4 NIL) begins the Fourth of July Wood Bat Classic on Friday, facing West Kelowna at 8 a.m. and the Hanford Flames at 10:30 at Rogers High in Spokane.
