| June 22, 2016 9:00 PM

A free homebuyer education class is coming to Coeur d'Alene June 29.

The Idaho Housing and Finances Association's "Finally Home!" in-person homebuyer education class, specifically designed for first-time homebuyers to take students through the home buying process step-by-step, from helping them select the right real estate agent to understanding the loan application process.

The class is best taken in the early stages of the home buying process. Upon completion, graduates may qualify for financial incentives including down payment and closing cost assistance, higher debt ratio programs, lower mortgage insurance premiums and "gifted funds" at closing.

"Taking 'Finally Home!' can help buyers learn money saving tips many first-time buyers are unaware of," said IHFA homebuyer education and counseling administrator, Heather Bowman.

More than 45,000 homebuyers have benefited from the course, helping them avoid costly mistakes. Past participants of the class have obtained helpful home-buying information such as understanding credit scores and how to qualify for a loan. Comments from past participants include: "It was a great introduction into the home buying world," and "The lender answered lots of questions and the instructor was very thorough. I enjoyed it all and am inspired about the process."

For this month only, the usual $20 registration fee for the in-person class will be waived. The class may also be taken online at www.finallyhomecourse.com with a $50 registration fee.
