THANKS: Volunteers step up

| June 8, 2016 9:00 PM

A group of about 40 volunteers from Real Life Community Church just completed a couple of service projects at Lakeland High School this morning. We can’t thank them enough for their help in improving our courtyard and cleaning up the landscaping around our gym. They approached us a couple of weeks ago asking if they could do anything to help our school. The two projects were mentioned and they eagerly accepted.

Our horticulture students and teacher, Mrs. Williams, have been working on the courtyard for several weeks. Having these cheerful volunteers working side by side with some of our students was a picture of a true community effort. They spread numerous yards of bark dust in the planting areas. It encouraged our students greatly! It makes our courtyard a great place to sit and enjoy the nice weather.

Thank you to Tim and Karen Kastning and Grace Tree Service of Hayden for donating the bark and also Steve Stubbs for hauling about 14 yards of the material to LHS. What a demonstration of being a good neighbor! Lakeland High School and Lakeland School District are truly grateful to everyone who assisted in this project.
