HINZ: Model good parenting

The loss of Jeff Hinz has been a very sad time for our community. So many heartfelt words of praise for Jeff and all very well deserved. I decided to write this letter as encouragement to young parents who are in the child-rearing trenches striving to produce children of Jeff’s caliber.

Jeff and his brother and sister were blessed with great parents. All of the qualities everyone admired in Jeff were exhibited in his everyday life through his parents, Patti and Fred Hinz. Good parenting gave us Jeff. Good parenting gave us Jeff’s sister, Kris Hinz, a teacher in our schools for 20+ years. Good parenting gave us Jeff’s brother, Michael Hinz, a career Air Force Colonel. These exemplary children of Patti and Fred did not happen by accident; they happened from love, sacrifice and dedication. Although Patti and family are grieving their loss of Jeff, they will always be proud of the man he was to so many.

So, young parents, continue to set a good example for your children and you too will have amazing and gratifying results.
