Everett walks past Indians

SPOKANE — Jason Goldstein hit a two-run double in the top of the third inning, sparking the Everett AquaSox past the Spokane Indians 5-2 in Northwest League baseball in front of a sellout crowd of 7,064 at Avista Stadium on Saturday.

Spokane has lost three straight since starting the second half of the season by winning its first two against Tri-City at Avista Stadium.

Everett opened the scoring in the first inning, taking advantage of four walks by Spokane pitching to take a 2-0 lead after the first.

Charles Lablanc doubled with one out in the fourth — Spokane’s first hit of the night — and scored on a two-out double by Xavier Turner. Seth Spivey singled leading off the fifth and scored on an RBI single by Darius Day to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Thomas Burrows pitched a scoreless ninth for Everett (5-0).

C.D. Pelham walked five in 1 2/3 innings for Spokane to take the loss.

The teams conclude the three-game series today at 3:30.
