Second 'shooter response' class available in September

| July 29, 2016 9:00 PM

Due to an overwhelming response for the "Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events" class in August, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is offering a second class in September.

The class will consist of information on how to "avoid, deny and defend" to increase chances of surviving an active shooter event, as well as information on disaster response psychology, past active shooter cases and case study of the Virginia Tech active shooter case.

The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Sept. 24 at the Volunteer Search and Rescue building, 10865 Ramsey Road in Hayden. Seating is by reservation only. Those who are interested may contact the sheriff's office community service officer, Gary Schults, at 446-2121 to reserve a seat.
