Donnis Trio to perform tonight in Cd'A

Live After 5’s featured band for tonight’s concert is The Donnis Trio.

A nationally touring folk/rock band from San Diego, The Donnis Trio consists of members Nate Donnis, Phil Woodring and Denis Sluka. Donnis does vocals, guitar and songwriting; Woodring does drums and backup vocals; and Sluka plays bass.

Their music has been used in movies and TV shows such as Skins (UK), Breaking Amish, 90210 and MTV. Their Pandora radio station alone has more than 25 million plays.

The band’s style reflects influences like Tom Waits, Wilco and Eddie Vedder.

Their latest album “Chroma” came out in 2014 and they’ve released a few singles since then.

The Donnis Trio was formed in 2005. In 2007 they started touring along the California coast, and their name began to reach international audiences after their music was used in the British TV series “Skins.”

Admission to Live After 5 is $5 for ages 13 and older and is free for kids 12 and younger.

The event is held every Wednesday evening through September at the corner of Sixth and Sherman.
