Southwest Ada 10, Hayden 7: Braydon Ross went 3 for 4, Elliot Smart drove in three runs, Bryce Hall two for District 1 champion Hayden, which fell to the District 2 winners in the first game of a best-of-3 series to decide the state title.
Hayden outhit Southwest Ada with seven hits, but committed four errors in one inning that led to four unearned runs.
The teams play again today at 10 a.m. PDT, with Hayden needing a win to force a deciding Game 3 on Sunday at 10 a.m.
AGE 9-10
At Duck Alley, Eagle
West Valley 10, Coeur d’Alene 4: Cooper Smith went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Coeur d’Alene in Game 1 of the best-of-3 series for the state title.
Braden Newby, Chase Saunders, Cooper Erickson, Austin DeBoer and Avery Cherry also had hits in the loss.
Game 2 is scheduled for today at 10 a.m. PDT, with Coeur d’Alene needing a win to force a deciding Game 3 on Sunday.
