WRITER: Here's a challenge

| July 22, 2016 9:00 PM

There is an individual who writes several letters a year attacking retired police and firefighters who have chosen to spend the rest of their lives in the great Northwest. I will refer to this winner henceforth as Nevada. He continually rants that these pensions, both medical and service, are undeserved. Could it be possible that Nevada at one time attempted to become a first responder but was unable to pass the entry level written test or the subsequent oral, physical or background check? One wonders.

I would submit a challenge to Nevada. If I could arrange for him to ride in the back seat of a black and white patrol car for say, 90 days in south Los Angeles wearing a patrol uniform including a weapon (unloaded of course), would he accept the challenge? While in the jungle (aka south L.A.) he would reside at a motel I have in mind located at 43rd Place and Broadway. As an added bonus, there are many working girls hanging about this motel that he could get to know, thus giving him a feel for the city. I would give Nevada about one 12-hour tour of duty before he began experiencing the symptoms of cardiac arrest and was last seen driving northbound on the Harbor Freeway at a high rate of speed in his personal vehicle headed back to Idaho. What say you NEVADA?
