JUDGES: Tougher is better

| July 22, 2016 9:00 PM

Well, I guess we have a bleeding heart judge on the bench. I quit law enforcement serving only 10 years because of bleeding heart judges. I felt like I was wasting my time arresting criminals, only to have them get probation or credit for time served, then released.

What about the victim of this crime? Who is going to compensate her for the mental anguish she is having? Would this judge give a similar sentence to a rapist?

It is time to appoint tough judges to the bench that will follow the sentencing guidelines outlined in the penal code. The sentence must fit at least the minimum written in the code. I think we should have a recall, or at least vote in a new judge the next time that Judge Cynthia Meyer comes up for election. A long sentence and a free ride to Chicago would be better for any criminal who commits a crime here.

On another note, I am glad that they are going to enlarge the jail. It would be good to let the criminals know that “WE HAVE ROOM FOR YOU” if they violate the law in North Idaho. If the laws here were tougher than other states, criminals would know not to come here. With bleeding heart judges, it is an invitation for criminals.
