Five hurt in collision
Five people were injured when a driver ran a red light in Spokane Valley early Saturday morning.
Sarah Anderson, 25, of Coeur d'Alene, was driving a 1994 Ford Explorer southbound on Sullivan Road shortly after midnight when her vehicle was struck by a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Brooke Benton, 22, of Spokane. Anderson and her four passengers were injured and Benton was not injured, according to the Washington State Patrol.
According to the WSP press memo, Benton was driving at a high rate of speed as she traveled eastbound on Sprague Avenue, striking Anderson's vehicle as they passed through the intersection of Sprague and Sullivan. The report states that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
Anderson's passengers were Nicole Agnew, 19, of Coeur d'Alene; Jesse Spoklie, 34, of Spokane; Mark Coladonato, 36, of Colbert; and Amanda Milhouse, 31, of Greenacres. Coladonato was transported to Valley Medical Center and Anderson and the other three were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Benton was charged with DUI and vehicular assault.
