LEGION BASEBALL: Prairie falls twice to Lewis-Clark
LEWISTON — The Prairie Cardinals played Lewis-Clark tough in both games Friday, but the Twins emerged with 9-6 and 3-0 victories at Harris Field to win the class AA North Idaho League and clinch the top seed to next week’s Area A (district) tournament.
Jacob Elliott went 4 for 7 and scored two runs on the day for Prairie (12-28, 3-7 North Idaho League).
“I thought both Matt Fleming and Jared Porter threw great for us,” Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. “Both threw a complete game and gave up only two earned runs apiece. The first game our defense had five errors, which really hurt us. In the second game we played much better, but give credit to their pitcher who threw very well.”
Logan Chase of Lewis-Clark (29-8, 9-1) pitched a four-hit shutout in the second game.
Prairie plays host to Coeur d’Alene in a North Idaho League doubleheader Monday at 3 p.m. at Post Falls High.

COEUR d’ALENE — Jarred Hall went 3 for 4 with two home runs and six runs batted in, powering the Lumbermen past the Mavericks at Thorco Field.
“Jarred dominated the day,” Coeur d’Alene coach Zach Clanton said. “It is the type of day you dream of and it’s awesome that he had a day like this so close to districts. Hopefully we can continue to build off this and be a difference maker down the stretch. This was a great game to build off going into next week.”
Nathan Phillips went 4 for 6 and scored three runs for Coeur d’Alene (10-20), which plays a doubleheader against Prairie on Monday at Post Falls High starting at 3 p.m.
“Nate seems like he has been on base every single time since moving to the leadoff spot,” said Clanton of Phillips, who is 10 for 17 since moving up in the lineup on Wednesday against Northern Lakes. He’s really become a spark plug for us and helped set the tone. It’s been really fun to watch.”
