Fundraiser for Moore Memorial today in Rathdrum

| July 16, 2016 9:00 PM

A fundraising effort to build a memorial water feature in McEuen Park honoring Sgt. Greg Moore will get a boost today at the McDonald’s in Rathdrum.

The “$27 for K27” campaign was announced earlier this year by Coeur d’Alene Mayor Steve Widmyer and Christie Wood, a retired city police sergeant. Organizers plan to raise $750,000 to pay for construction of a water feature in memory of Moore, a Coeur d’Alene police sergeant killed in the line of duty last year. Moore’s call number was K27.

Donors are encouraged to contribute to the cause in $27 increments.

The McDonald’s in Rathdrum is launching the store’s grand re-opening by donating 27 percent of its proceeds raised Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dignitaries and civil servants from Rathdrum, Post Falls, Hayden, Hayden Lake, Spirit Lake and Coeur d’Alene have been invited to participate in the fundraising event. Attendees will include Rathdrum Mayor Vic Holmes and Police Chief Kevin Fuhr as well as uniformed officers, local police officials, and other local mayors from neighboring cities.
