| July 14, 2016 10:16 AM

Troy Schueller will take the helm at Coeur d’Alene High School as he accepted the offer today to become principal of the CHS Vikings.

“I was extremely excited to offer the CHS principal position to Troy as he has absolutely proven over the years to be a capable and responsive leader,” stated Superintendent Matt Handelman. “Troy proved this to many others through an arduous selection process. My congratulations go out to him and his family. We are looking forward to his leadership at CHS for years to come.”

Schueller has played a key leadership role as an assistant principal at Coeur d’Alene High School, a position he has held for the past eight years. One of Schueller’s strengths is the diversity of leadership he has brought to working with many student populations including CHS’s student council, advanced learners and at-risk students at the juvenile detention center. During yesterday evening’s public forum, Schueller emphasized how important relationships are to him. He shared that he is a leader who is “firm, fair and consistent and has a proven track record of leading a staff and a community into valuing the importance of education while earning the trust, confidence and respect of the people he serves.”

Schueller has been a building administrator for thirteen years with previous experience as Kellogg High School’s principal and vice principal and principal at Canyon Elementary School. Troy started his career in education as a teacher, with a diverse background teaching English and Science and Technology in middle school and an elementary combination grade level classroom. While a teacher, Troy also coached wrestling and football at the middle and high school levels.

“I am honored and humbled to be your new principal,” shared Schueller. “This is an amazing opportunity for me to continue to invest in the relationships I have built with our Viking students, families, staff and our community. I look forward to inspiring and leading our school community.”
