JUNIORS (age 13-14)
At Cooper Field, Rathdrum
Lakeland 16, Sandpoint 6, 5 inn: Ezra Grigg scored three runs for Lakeland, trailed early before coming on strong to 10-run Sandpoint in the first game of a best-of-3 series for the district title.
Game 2 is tonight at 5:30 at Cooper Field. If Sandpoint wins, a deciding game would be Thursday at 5:30 at Cooper Field.
Lakeland pulled ahead in the fourth inning, and finished off Sandpoint in the fifth.
Kade McDonald hit a three-run double for Sandpoint.
The winner of the series advances to regionals in Vancouver, Wash.
