LEGION BASEBALL: Porter hurls complete game
POST FALLS — Jared Porter threw a complete game, three-hitter to lead the Prairie Cardinals to a split in a doubleheader with Lewis-Clark (1-3 North Idaho League) on Monday at Post Falls High School.
Porter allowed two runs, striking out eight, and Chaz Bailey went 2 for 4 with a double and totaled 3 RBIs on the day for the Cardinals (11,25, 3-5 NIL), who play at Tri Cities Prep and Walla Walla on Wednesday.
“In the first game we had a terrible mentality going in, we were not there to compete and the Twins, who are a really good team, made us pay for that,” Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. “I think getting beat badly in game 1 kind of woke us up and we were much better in game 2.
“It was great to see our team have a little ‘fight’ in us.”
Bailey, Matt Lebsock and Jerrett Plunkett each had two hits on the day for Prairie.
