LITTLE LEAGUE: Cd'A 9-10s, Hayden 10-11s headed to state playoffs

Idaho District 1 tournaments

At Croffoot Park, Hayden

AGE 9-10

Coeur d’Alene 11, Hayden 3: Coeur d’Alene scored nine runs in the final two innings to take the best-of-3 series 2-0. Austin DeBoer drove in three runs for the winners, Cooper Smith hit a two-run double, Braeden Newby and AJ Currie each hit two-run singles, and Cooper Erickson had an RBI single and a double.

For Hayden, Cooper Reese and Charlie Dixon each had RBI singles.

Coeur d’Alene advances to the best-of-3 state playoffs against the District 2 (Boise area) champion July 22-24 in Eagle.

AGE 10-11

Hayden 6, Coeur d’Alene 5: Romynn Schaefer singled in Elliot Smart with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth, capping a five-run rally and lifting Hayden to the district title, winning the best-of-3 series 2-0. Eli Knight added a double for Hayden.

For Coeur d’Alene, Cameron Davey hit a two-run home run, and Kyle Bridge added an RBI double.

Hayden advances to the best-of-3 state playoffs against the District 2 (Boise area) champion July 22-24 in Eagle.

MAJORS (age 11-12)

Sandpoint 10, Lewiston 9: Gerrit Cox hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs for Sandpoint, which built a big lead en route to squaring the best-of-3 series for the district title at one game apiece. Blake Sherrill homered and drove in three runs, and Avery Bocksch also homered in the win.

Wyett Lopez homered for Lewiston, which scored the game’s final six runs. Chris Ricard drove in two runs and Cruz Hepburn doubled.

The teams play today at 11:30 a.m. at Croffoot Park, with the winner advancing to the state playoffs.
