Ice cream with choices of several sauces and about 100 flavors are the specialty of Freezia, a new business at 112 E. Seltice Way (east of the White House Grill), Post Falls.

Owners Shawn and Mandi Carr discovered rolled ice cream made on a machine in Thailand. Using his homemade ice cream recipes, they bought a machine to make products that are fresher and flavorful with many options. About the size of birthday cake candles, the rolled ice cream (with all its flavors and sauces) nodules are put vertically into a cup and covered with more treats.

The customers watch the process and can enjoy the results at several tables or take it to go. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 9 p.m. Sundays. Phone 457-3504.

Mountain Madness Soap to Sherman

Several handmade soaps and accessories are the specialty of Mountain Madness Soap. The two-year-old business now at South Fourth Street (next to Wiggett’s Antiques) will move in September to the now-vacant location of Everson’s Jewelry at 310 E. Sherman Ave.

Their products include natural soap, body butter, lip balm, bath bombs, bubble bars, lotion bars, natural deodorants and locally made wooden and ceramic dishes to hold them.

Owners Jennifer and Andy Morsell started making the soaps a decade ago in Alaska, came to North Idaho seven years ago and sold at farmers’ markets and festivals. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Custom Den engraves trophies and awards

While on the Everson building, the basement occupant of Custom Den will be opening about July 25 at 2035 Beebe Blvd. in Riverstone.

Owners Gary and Brent Everson engrave trophies and awards and will have a line of personalized gifts such as silver cups. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Check www.customden.com.

Landmark Storage building 98 units

A total of 98 storage units of various sizes, an office and a personal mailbox area are being constructed at what will be 3119 N. Second St. (behind the Neider Retail Center across from Costco).

Units will range from 8 to 14-foot tall doors. All will have lights with the larger ones having AMP plugs. Trying to fill the niche for big RVs and boats, Landmark Storage will be more than 35,000 square feet on two acres.

Owners are the Miller Development Group of Chad Oakland, Dan Stubbs and Corey Stach with Ashley Sanders as manager. Phone 661-0455. Check www.landmarkcda.com.

Now for the Tidbits

- Watch for news on Dickey’s Barbecue Pit outside Silver Lake Mall, G.I. Java Coffee House on Fourth Street, An Escape Game on Third Street, a new business next to Clark’s Jewelry downtown and Sushi I and Grille From Ipanema in Riverstone.

- Other new places coming include, Alta Dance Academy and Hayden Medical Plaza & Clinics in Hayden and gas station-convenience stores in the southwest corner of Highway 95 and Lancaster and the southeast corner of Ramsey Road and Prairie Avenue.

- Crafted Taphouse will add a Victory beverage place in the former Christmas at the Lake location next to Crafted on Sherman. And its beer garden should be in the back on Lakeside. Nearby, a Starbucks will be at Sherman and Seventh. And more places coming include Metro PCS cellphone service next to the Ironwood Albertson’s and Schini Family Dentistry building a new place in Riverstone,

- And we have new places coming in Post Falls — Rogers’ Burgers, Popeyes, Green & Grounds Coffee Shop, Silverlake Auto, The Lean Bean, Jimmie John’s and Dutch Bros. Coffee.

- A spy needs to tell us what’s happening to the corner of Hayden Avenue at Government Way that used to be a car wash.

- Lately visitors and tourists have asked me why downtown Cd’A doesn’t have more restaurants with lake views. Good question. Great locations would be second floors of buildings on Front Avenue.

- If a son has the same name as his father, he is John H. Doe Jr. (no comma). If the name is John H. Doe II or 2nd, he may just be a descendant of John H. Doe. Hmm. How is a female Jr. written?
