LEGION BASEBALL: Lums capture tourney opener

| July 8, 2016 9:00 PM

CENTRALIA, Wash. — Thomas Robinson struck out eight in a complete-game four-hitter, and the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen topped the Olympia (Wash.) Crosscutters 2-1 in their opening game at the Greater Seattle League College Showcase on Thursday at the Borst Park Sports Complex.

“Thomas Robinson threw great for the second outing in a row in what was awful weather conditions,” Lums coach Zach Clanton said. “We did not do all that well at the plate today so Tom throwing well was great for us to be able to go out and get a win.”

Grant Wade walked to lead off the fifth and scored on an error to tie the game for Coeur d’Alene (8-15). Tanner Criswell reached on an error and scored the go-ahead run on Zach Sensel’s single.
