Eucker named IFL
Executive of
the Year
Spokane Empire Director of Operations Ryan Eucker was named the 2016 Indoor Football League Executive of the Year as the league announced awards following the conclusion of the regular season.
Under Eucker’s leadership, the Empire transitioned from AFL to the league.
Spokane transitioned to the Empire to represent the historic indoor football market’s long history within the railroad industry. Under Eucker’s leadership Spokane quickly became a strong force in the IFL as the team finished with the best record in the Intense Conference (12-4) and will host the Intense Conference Championship on July 17th. In addition, the Empire ranked near the top of the league in attendance and sales, averaging 5,275 fans per game.
The Empire was also recognized for having the league’s best website/social media. The Empire led the IFL with over 39,000 Facebook likes.
Idaho tight end Cowan named
to Mackey Award Watch List
Idaho senior Trent ‘Buck’ Cowan is the second Vandal to receive mention on the prestigious Mackey Award Watch List, which honors the best collegiate tight end.
Cowan is a member of the watch list after finishing fourth among FBS tight ends in 2015. He had 624 yards on 48 catches. He accounted for four touchdowns and had two games — Auburn (118) and Wofford (110) — of 100 or more yards receiving.
“Trent is very deserving of this honor,” Idaho coach Paul Petrino said. “He is a very dedicated player. His work ethic and attention to detail service as examples of how to do things right. He had a great year in 2015 and we expect great things out of him again this year.”
Daniel Hardy was a Mackey Award semifinalist in 2010.
