Indians' Turner turns on power
SPOKANE — Xavier Turner knocked in four runs to lead the Spokane Indians over the Boise Hawks 6-3 on Monday night before 7,028 in Northwest League baseball at Avista Stadium.
Turner doubled in Luis Terrero and Charles LeBlanc for a 2-0 Indians lead in the second. Later in the inning, Travis Bolin singles to center, scoring Turner.
Willie Abreu’s RBI single in the fourth for the Hawks cut the lead to 3-1.
Turner had a 2-run home run in the fifth to highlight a 3-run inning to make it 6-1 for the Indians (6-11).
Abreu homered with one on in the sixth to make the score 6-3 for Boise (6-11).
Spokane starter Kyle Cody went five innings, striking out six and allowing one run on four hits to pick up his first win of the season.
The two teams play again tonight at Avista at 6:30.
