Sharon Johnson, 72
Sharon Rae (Baltzell) Johnson, 72, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away June 22, 2016, at Hospice House of North Idaho. She was born on Aug. 25, 1943, in Bemidji, Minn., to Dorothy M. (Hunt) and Theodore Howard Baltzell.
Sharon moved to Glendive, Mont., for a short time as a child before settling in the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, area where she resided for most of her 72 years. She graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1961, eventually attending and graduating from North Idaho College in 1994. In 1963, Sharon married William T. Phillips and together had three children. Later she married again, to Duane (Bud) Johnson in 1998.
Sharon worked in the banking industry and later as an administrative assistant at Ross Point Baptist Camp and Lutheran Church of the Master. Sharon was a member of the Professional Secretaries Association for many years, was a founding member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Rathdrum, Idaho, and belonged to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Thrivent Financial. Sharon was an active member of the Coeurly Q’s Square Dance Club, and most recently was a commissioner with the Hayden Historic Preservation Commission. Sharon loved square dancing, singing, reading, traveling, crocheting, and most of all, spending her time with friends and family.
Survivors include: Michael Phillips and wife Donna of Athol, Idaho; daughter Teresa (Teri) and husband Morgan Tanner of Rathdrum; and daughter Amanda (Mandi) and Michael Camin of Moscow, Idaho; brothers and sisters-in-law respectively, Ronald and Zena Baltzell of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; Jerry and Barbara Baltzell of Post Falls, Idaho; and Dennis and Greta Baltzell of Spokane Valley, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 1700 Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Reception to follow.
