SAT: Be very concerned
I would like to respond to the article about the average SAT scores in the Cd’A school district. I was shocked to read the quote from the Director of Curriculum and Assessments that says he is “not concerned that only 32 percent of the district’s juniors are deemed college and career ready in math.” If he’s not concerned, who is?
If my math is correct, that means two-thirds of juniors are NOT deemed college and career ready. The one-third that does meet the benchmark has only a “75 percent chance of making a C in college-level math.”
The patrons of CDA271 have made education a priority by funding levies beyond what the state will provide. I will continue to strongly support education in our community, but we should demand a better bang for our buck. Together, let’s set a goal to improve our math scores so ALL kids can reach a level of proficiency, not just a dismal 32 percent.
