GUNS: Rights vs. 'control'

| July 3, 2016 9:00 PM

Let’s examine some English. NRA implies, rather INSISTS that gun rights is the opposite of gun control. Since when? Is freedom the opposite of law and order? Is liberty the opposite of license? Is free will the opposite of common sense? Let’s think: gun rights implies the freedom to own weapons.

Gun control is not “gun elimination.” Gun control implies regulating kinds of weapons, and in no way does this infringe on gun rights. Freedom doesn’t mean no law and order. Liberty doesn’t mean no unlicensed activities that hurt others. Free will doesn’t mean acting against civilized behavior.

When can the NRA and gun enthusiasts come to understand that regulations such as rules eliminating weapons of mass destruction for the general public are in no way eliminating “gun rights”?

The concealed weapons owner feels secure because his weapon is hidden.

Why not eliminate the “unconcealed” assault weapon from the would-be terrorist? Hey, NRA member — then you can feel safer with your “gun rights.”

How can that NOT make sense? Get real!

By the way: Mr. Trump defends the right for citizens to have concealed weapons. I wonder how many folks with concealed weapons are at his “Trump Rallies?”
