Patriotic spirit in Spirit Lake
The city of Spirit Lake is celebrating a few different ways this Fourth of July.
There will be a six-block parade at 11 a.m. with line-up beginning at 10:30 a.m. Anyone who wants to be part of the parade just needs to show up. Line-up is on Fourth Avenue behind Spirit Lake Elementary. There are no registration fees and no horses are allowed.
The Athol American Legion Post 149 will be joining with Roy Racy VWF Post 1473, Spirit Lake to present colors for the parade.
There will also be activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the big city park between Washington and Adams on Highway 41. Vendor spaces are still available. Call 623-2275 to reserve a spot.
In the evening, there will be a $3,500 professional fireworks display ordered by Spirit Lake Visions, Inc. The display will begin at 10 p.m. in Volunteer Park, at 10th and Jefferson.
The fireworks fundraiser is currently underway as a raffle. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 7 for $5, on sale Saturdays outside Old West Hardware. First of 10 prizes is a king-size, hand-crocheted, daffodil-yellow bed cover.
Spirit Lake Visions is also accepting donations at P.O. Box 876, Spirit Lake, ID 83869. Checks can be made out to Spirit Lake Visions, a nonprofit that works to create a sense of community, especially with youth.
