Papoose Mountain was his favorite hunting territory later in his life. Joe also represented the USA in two world bowling tournaments in Oslo, Sweden.

He retired at age 55 and enjoyed a life of giving generously to his family, being in the outdoors and tending to his garden. Joe took great pride in he and his wife Angie's yard located on Troy Street which was twice featured in Better Homes and Gardens.
