POEM: Tribute to Art Manley

| July 1, 2016 9:00 PM

Conservation fueled the engine

Of this good and caring sage —

His accomplishments too many

To record down on a page.

His values were his beacon

He would not, could not shirk the fight-

His efforts were unending

When he knew the cause was right.

Let us hope that there’ll be others

Who’ll take up his virtuous cause —

Be inspired by his landmarks,

Fashion fair and binding laws.

As we honor in remembering,

Let us in remembering pledge to give —

More of our time and effort

To preserve this place in which we live.

Thank you dear Art Manley!

Your loss; a bitter, bitter pill-

But we’ll take heart in knowing

As your legacy keeps growing…and it will.

That we’ll always feel your presence

Out on your favorite hill!
