Ella Mae (Becker) Chronic, 90

Ella Mae (Becker) Chronic, 90, passed away on Jan. 23, 2016. Ella Mae was born in Gooding, Idaho, to John and Effie Becker. She was the third of seven children; her siblings included Bill, Juanita, Hazel, Esther, Bob and Don.

Shortly after graduating high school in southern Idaho, Ella Mae moved to Dover, Idaho, with her family. She served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Upon returning home, she met and married Byron Chronic. They bought a farm in Algoma, Idaho, where they lived and raised their five daughters. In 1993, they sold their farm and moved to a home in Dover. They were married 52 years.

Ella Mae worked as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, raising flowers and the daily responsibilities of farm life. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Westmond Grange, the Algoma women’s club and the “Dover Girls” club. She attended Sagle Baptist Church for many years, and in her later life was a member of Dover Baptist Church. She was an accomplished singer and often sang at her church and for other special events. Ella Mae was well-known for her hospitality, quick wit and cheerful disposition.

Ella Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Byron Chronic; her daughter, Terry (Chronic) Ellsworth; her grandson, Russell Kuhns; and siblings Bill Becker, Juanita Wilkey, Hazel Overland, Esther Verwolf and Bob Becker. She is survived by her brother, Don Becker and her daughters, Pat Kuhns, Kristi Chronic, Sally Loveless and Kim Anderson along with their husbands; her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
