COEUR d’ALENE — Kenny Louie-McGee scored eight of his 19 points in the fourth quarter, leading the Lake City Timberwolves past the visiting Lakeland Hawks 48-38 in nonleague play Friday night.
“Kenny hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the fourth to stretch the lead out, and we managed the ball fairly well in the final 1:30,” Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said. “It’s great to have back-to-back wins and get some momentum going into league play. It was a good effort by our guys.”
Louie-McGee had four steals and James Carlson had 12 points and nine rebounds for Lake City (5-11), which plays at Post Falls on Tuesday.
Kaden Davis scored nine points for Lakeland (5-11), which hosts Moscow on Tuesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Seniors Whitney Meier scored 18 points and Kate Maryon had 10 points, eight assists and six steals to lead the Timberwolves past the Hawks on senior night.
“I thought our seniors did a great job,” Lake City coach Bryan Kelly said. “We started five different guards (Olivia Maryon, Kate Maryon, Whitney Meier, Cierra Dvorak and Madi Vershum) and there was a lot of energy out there tonight. They were all freshmen my first year, and have done a lot for our program. I thought the girls did a good job defensively and did some different things. We shot the ball well and got some confidence.”
Nina Carlson had six points and six steals for Lake City (16-4), which hosts Lewiston in a key 5A Inland Empire League game tonight at 5 p.m.
Savannah Pruitt scored seven points for Lakeland (4-14), which travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday in its 4A IEL finale.

MOSCOW — Abi Gennett scored nine points for the Trojans, who were held to three field goals in the final three quarters in a loss to the Bears in a nonleague game at Bear Den.
“Give Moscow credit, they played well defensively and took away our inside game,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. “And we struggled scoring. We scored one field goal in the second, third and fourth quarter, and you’re not going to win many games that way.”
Bayley Brennan and Melody Kempton scored eight points each for Post Falls (12-9), which opens the 5A Region 1 tournament next Friday night.

Rumble underway
COEUR d’ALENE — Post Falls advanced 12 wrestlers to the semifinal round of the North Idaho Rumble at Coeur d’Alene High, scheduled to begin today at 11 a.m.
Ridge Lovett (98 pounds), Alessio Lemmon (106), Jordan Grimm (106), Matt McLeod (120), Braydon Huber (126), Jason Burchell (132), Wyatt Shelly (132), Tyler Wolf (138), Alius De La Rosa (145), Queong Rahman-Smith (152), Brad Noesen (195) and Kameron Welker (285) advanced for the Trojans, who lead the team scoring with 119 points. Lakeland is second with 106 and Coeur d’Alene is third with 88.
“We’re pretty happy with the way the guys wrestled,” Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. “There was a few matches we should have had, but most of the teams we’ll see again for regionals. It’s a good tournament for us, especially with being on the road and important to keep the momentum going.”
Chandler Axtell (98), William Edelblute (106), Tavis Woempner (113), Brian Edelblute (120), Larry Johnson (126), Tyler Siegford (132), Wyatt Gatten (152), Jared Walker (170) and Antonio Brown (220) advanced for Lakeland.
“We had a really good quarterfinal round and the kids wrestled tough,” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “Tavis beat the No. 2 seed in the tournament (Mathias De La Rosa of Post Falls), Brian beat the No. 4 seed from Middleton and Wyatt got a big win for us as well. Everyone is wrestling to their potential and above right now. Hopefully they’ll continue that through the rest of the season.”
Sam Reese (113), Kaleb Maciosek (113), Dylan Lockwood (138), Mario Peregrina (145), Vince Rey (182) and Alex Marshall (220) advanced for Coeur d’Alene.
“I thought our boys wrestled really well,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We’re starting to wrestle well at the right time. Mario beat a 4A runner-up in the quarterfinals and it was a good win for him. There was a lot of good wrestling and it’s a really tough tournament.
Championship finals are tentatively scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
Lake City’s Nathan Lambert (152) and Ryder Mervin of Timberlake (285) also advanced to the semis.
