TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Still perfect — thanks to a second-half comeback.

With North Idaho College trailing by two points, Kaleb Warner hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 30 seconds left as the Cardinals rallied from a 14-point deficit early in the second half to beat Salt Lake Community College 98-94 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Thursday night at Bruin Arena.

“They’ve just got no quit,” NIC coach Corey Symons said.

Braian Angola-Rodas scored 30 points, BJ Blake 23 for NIC (24-0, 9-0 SWAC), ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA. But Blake fouled out with 7 1/2 minutes left and the Cardinals still trailing by nine.

Enter Scott Turner, Haywood Irwin and Ziggy Satterthwaite to the rescue for the Cardinals, who opened up a two-game lead in the SWAC.

Turner, the former Lake City High standout, played just three minutes off the bench, but grabbed a key offensive rebound and contributed three points and two rebounds. Irwin knocked down a 3-pointer with the Cards trailing by seven, aiding the comeback.

Tyler Rawson scored 24 points, Bushmen Ebet 23 for No. 16 Salt Lake (20-4, 7-2).

“We just couldn’t guard anybody early on,” Symons said. “We hit a couple shots (in the second half, and we sat down and played defense finally.”

On Saturday, NIC travels to Snow, which lost 106-98 to CSI in double-overtime on Thursday.
