POST FALLS — Norman Leffler wants to help you get the most from your life.

The retired urologist and Air Force veteran will speak on "Living Comfortably to Age 100 and Beyond" at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, at the Garden Plaza in Post Falls.

The presentation is free, open to the public and all ages and includes a complimentary lunch buffet. Those interested in attending should RSVP by calling 773-3701.

“I’ll be speaking to a lot of seniors, but I'm really hoping that some younger people can also attend," said Leffler, who will "just be turning 87" on Feb. 15.

Leffler said age only matters if you're talking about cheese or wine.

He said it's important to realize who you're getting your medical advice from, if it's from a nurse practitioner or a medical doctor.

"There's so much misinformation out there that it's important to know who the doctor is and his or her training and background," he said.

Obesity, he said, continues to be a huge problem in America.

"People are eating a lot of hamburgers and pizzas and not getting much exercise," he said, adding that obesity can lead to many other problems.

People need motivation and a sense of direction and value today, so they don't become depressed.

"Try to get people to think about things that they can do in the community," he said.

And, as obvious it is, seemingly simple behaviors such as driving carefully can help you live longer, Leffler said.
