The start of cleanliness, part two
In part one of “The Start of Cleanliness” I wrote about why we need to be cleaner from the inside out.
I illustrated it based on a kitchen garbage disposal unit in eliminating waste for us, but if overloaded, how it can back up and decide not to work well.
I had already stated that cleanses generally involved eating a specialized diet, drinking lots of water and taking herbs and fiber that are responsible for improving the body’s waste disposal.
Most good cleanses have the following characteristics:
• First, they are NOT composed of synthetic ingredients.
The ingredients should sound like herbs or food.
It’s ridiculous to do a cleanse while taking synthetic vitamins or ingredients that add to the toxic load!
• Second, they must feed the tissues the same time as they cleanse.
Over the past 37 years of supporting the detoxification of many individuals, I have sorted through an abundance of cleanses that are basically starvation-oriented.
I am opposed to that. Supporting the body to cleanse, also means supporting function in general.
You need quality nutrients to do that. So a good purification diet eliminates everything that could increase the body’s burden.
Carbohydrates, junk foods, bad oils and fats, sugar, etc. should be eliminated.
Also meats as they take a lot of energy to digest, and giving the digestive system somewhat of a break is nice.
It entails mostly vegetables, and some fruit, but also protein such as a raw protein powder.
• Third, they must activate Phase II of the liver detoxification pathway.
That is key.
To illustrate this (keeping with the garbage illustration); the day arrives that it is time for the garbage truck to arrive.
You run around the house, emptying all the trash cans from every nook and cranny in your house, and any other place you find garbage hanging around.
You collect it all together, and take it out into one or two larger trash cans and put it on the street for the garbage collector to come take away.
That is Phase I of the liver detoxification pathway. Phase II is when the garbage truck arrives and takes everything away for you.
In researching a significant amount of cleanses over the years, one, two or three of the above characteristics is left out.
If the third attribute were not handled, usually Phase II of the liver detoxification pathway is missing, garbage gets freed up, but not eliminated properly.
The person feels fatigued, achy and has headaches – not fun! But with Phase II activated, they feel energized and many ask to stay on the cleanse longer!
So while you are in the state of mind to clean up your life, consider cleaning up your insides as well!
