Fundraiser: Thanks to all involved in Play in a Day

Christian Youth Theater-North Idaho would like to thank those in the community who participated, volunteered or donated to their 7th Annual Play in a Day fundraiser on Dec. 29-30. At total of 143 local kids along with 25+ adult volunteers literally put together and performed “Frumpled Fairytales,” an original script in 24 hours! The cast of 118 kids between the ages of 8-18 memorized their lines and song lyrics overnight while 25 teens pulled and created the sets, props and costumes. Early on Dec. 30, while the crew slept, the cast rehearsed learning their blocking, choreography and songs. At 1 p.m., all of the kids and volunteers came together for dress rehearsal, a quick bite to eat donated by local restaurants, and then a performance for supporters and the curious who couldn’t believe it could be done!

While the event was free to the children who participated, through ticket sales to the public and a drawing for donated items, CYT-North Idaho grossed over $2,600.00. Roughly 8-9 percent of the profit went directly into a scholarship fund to provide tuition for kids who wish to take CYT-North Idaho’s theater arts classes. The remainder goes directly back into the non-profit educational program. The CYT-North Idaho staff and Chillbucket Productions would like to specially acknowledge the following businesses for their donations: Domino’s Pizza – Cd’A, Taco Time - Cd’A, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts – Spokane Valley. They would also like to thank the S.A. Kroc Community Center for their continued support and look forward to returning next year to experience the miracles that can happen when 150+ people come together to have fun and entertain their community.
