Ronald G. Johnson, 77

Ronald G. Johnson died Jan. 6, 2016, at Hospice House after a prolonged illness from a stroke and heart attack.

He was a licensed Professional, Civil Surveyor and Electrical Engineer of 50 years. His skills and experience included Nuclear Power Plant Projects and Rocket testing, 3-Mile Island Nuclear Consultant, design and implementation of Bioremediation, Hazardous Waste Treatment and water purification systems.

Prior to his illness, he was an active member in Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, Rathdrum and Spirit Lake Chambers of Commerce. His volunteer activities included design of Rathdrum State Park, December D Lights, Rathdrum Days and Business Fairs. He had been a member of the Aquifer Protection District Advisory Board member, as well as Robotics and Lego Mentor. He wrote poems, articles for Science of Mind Magazine, San Jose Mercury News and as the “Dragonslayer” passionate and sometimes controversial letters to the editor (Coeur d’Alene Press).

He was a loving and caring father of Ronald Joe, daughter Ronda and granddaughter Haley; stepson Mike and daughter Valerie. He is survived by brother Fred, sister Katherine and wife Helen.

He had a loving and giving heart and will be missed. Ron’s family would like to thank all those who assisted them at their time of need.

A celebration of life with friends and family was held in December. In lieu of flowers, please donate to charity. There will be no memorial service.
