PREP ROUNDUP: Wallace girls top Lakeside for NSL lead

WALLACE — Sierra Brantz, Maryssa Hogamier and Shelby Majszak scored 16 points each, leading the Wallace Miners past the Lakeside Knights 57-46 in a battle for first place in the North Star League on Thursday night at Kirby Krulitz Court.
Lillian Rhea scored 18 points for Lakeside (10-3, 5-1), which had a four-game win streak snapped.
“It was another great team effort,” said Wallace coach Chris Lund, whose team has won 10 straight games. “We played well defensively and did a great job boxing out. Sierra helped us in the third with her quickness in the press to create turnovers.”
Lakeside faces Genesis Prep tonight at Post Falls Middle School.
Wallace (11-2, 6-0) travels to Kootenai tonight.

RATHDRUM — Keelie Lawler scored 19 points and Allison Kirby added nine points for the visiting Tigers in a nonleague win against the Hawks at Hawk Court.
Savannah Pruitt had nine points and six rebounds for Lakeland (4-12), which hosts Moscow on Tuesday.
“We just had a hard time getting into our offensive sets because of their quickness,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “Both Lawler and Kirby are just really talented players.”
Timberlake (14-1), ranked second in this week’s state 3A media poll, visits Kellogg tonight.

ST. MARIES — Riding the combined 23 points and 20 rebounds of the Auer sisters, the Lumberjacks won a Central Idaho League game over the Panthers.
Kaylee Auer finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for St. Maries (11-2, 3-1), while older sister Kelsey Auer had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
“They actually tied the game at 22 in the second quarter,” Lumberjacks coach Jay Sines said. “They did a great job of disrupting our offense early. We had a spurt at the end of the second quarter, where we got up by 10. Our girls carried that into the second half and played better defense. It led to fast break points.”
Madison Cordell scored 12 points while playing just two quarters for the Lumberjacks, who host Grangeville on Saturday. Devyn Wilson added eight points and nine rebounds. Alexis Cordell had five assists.
Mae Alexander scored nine points for Cd’A Charter (2-12, 0-3), who play Saturday at Bonners Ferry.

ST. MARIES — Tim Epler, one of three seniors honored on senior night, hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter as the host Lumberjacks bolted out to a 28-9 lead over the Panthers in Central Idaho League play.
Jake Sieler scored six of his 18 points in the first quarter for St. Maries (13-1, 3-0 CIL), ranked No. 1 in 2A. Kiefer Gibson had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Epler had nine points and seven rebounds, senior Drake Lounsbury nine points, six assists and three boards.
“We jumped on them early, but Charter kept making runs,” St. Maries coach Bryan Chase said. “We couldn’t put them away after a good first quarter.”
St. Maries plays host to Grangeville on Saturday in a key CIL tilt.
Jacob Rutherford scored 16 points for Coeur d’Alene Charter (2-10, 0-3), which visits Bonners Ferry on Saturday.
