• MEN’S BASKETBALL

COEUR d’ALENE — Braian Angola-Rodas had 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the fourth-ranked North Idaho College men’s basketball team in a 76-62 win against Colorado Northwestern on Thursday night in Scenic West Athletic Conference play at Rolly Williams Court.

BJ Blake scored 27 points on 13 of 25 shooting from the field for NIC (22-0, 7-0 SWAC), which hosts Utah State-Eastern on Saturday.

In other SWAC play, Southern Idaho (16-6, 4-3 SWAC) beat Utah State-Eastern (14-9, 1-7) 94-83 in Twin Falls.

Alex Therrien scored 14 points for Colorado Northwestern (2-20, 0-8).

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore guard Maci Benedict scored 12 of her game-high 16 points in the first half, leading the 25th-ranked Cardinals past the Spartans in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game at Rolly Williams Court.

“We came out of the gate pretty strong, and so did Colorado Northwestern,” said NIC coach Chris Carlson, whose team held Colorado Northwestern to two points in the third quarter. “We got some momentum going in the second quarter and our defense was really strong in the third quarter and just took over in the third.”

Shelby Cloninger, Ebony Norman and Stormee Van Belle scored eight points each for NIC (16-4, 4-3 SWAC), which shot 36 for 72 from the field and led by as much as 37 points.

NIC hosts Utah State-Eastern on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Kelsey Harvey scored 12 points for Colorado Northwestern (8-12, 0-8).

In other SWAC play, No. 7 Southern Idaho (21-1, 7-1 SWAC) rolled past Utah State-Eastern (8-13, 1-7) 80-59 in Twin Falls.
