Jayne Asylvia Downs, 60

Jayne Asylvia Downs, of Rathdrum, Idaho, received her Angel Wings on Jan. 18, 2016, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene surrounded by loving family and friends.

Jayne was born in San Diego, Calif., on Sept. 27, 1955, to Jack and Irene Bacon. She was the youngest of four sisters, Jacquelyn, Janis and Joan. She lived many years in the family home and shared many happy childhood days with her lifelong friend, Clara.

In 1974, she married David Youmans. In later years, she married Dave Downs and became a special part in the lives of his children, Stacy and Danny. In 2005, Jayne moved to Rathdrum with her sister, Janis and her family. Many happy memories were shared together.

With her natural compassion, wit and wisdom, her chosen life’s work in California and Idaho was always in the health care field and in the loving and excellent care of seniors. She worked in the administrative, activities, medical records and most lovingly in the direct care of the elderly. All who came in contact with Jayne quickly became aware of her loving kindness, quick wit and loyalty, and benefited in ways they will always remember. Jayne’s own health conditions brought about her retirement in recent years.

Jayne will be missed by all the hearts she touched at the senior care center that was formerly known as Loyalton. After retiring, Jayne’s professionalism and kind heart continued to be shared as she served as a volunteer at Lake City Center. She made many friends and would brighten the day of those she worked with and those she served. Their thoughts of Jayne were described in the words, “fun, kind-hearted, straight shooter, loyal and having the ability to bring sunshine into every room.”

Jayne, it is now time for you to fly alongside the fun angels, free of pain, free of cares. You take a little of each of us who loved you right along with you. And in turn, part of you will remain forever in our hearts.

Jayne is survived by her sisters, Janis (Darwin) Hansen of Rathdrum, Joan (Bill) Young of Grants Pass, Ore., and Jacquelyn Collins of Walton, N.Y.; nieces Jennifer, Julie, Lisa and Amber; and nephews Mark, Keith and Kraig. She has also blessed the lives and will be forever missed by special friends, Kris, Linda and Pam; and special animal friends, Quinn, Abby and Kea.
