DRIVERS: Turn your lights on
For the people who don’t drive with their lights on in the day time and even when it’s cloudy or even until it’s so dark they have to have them on, let’s look at Canada. Canada found that by enacting the headlight, running lights on cars like we have for motorcycles, the wrecks on cars dropped their accidents by 30 percent.
Look at foul weather where cars just sort of blend into their surroundings and cause a lot of wrecks, which could all be prevented by people running with their lights on during the day, even on good days.
If people think they are saving them, forget that. They will probably last as long either way, but in the event they have to replace a headlight, look at the deductible you will pay should you get in a wreck. The headlight replacement is a whole lot more economical in the long run.
Insurance companies charge less on the newer cars because the newer cars come with running lights, so if your vehicle doesn’t have them on, it might be worth it to install them on yours or at least drive with your lights on during the day.
As for night driving, if you can see in the dark, that’s great, but remember most of us can’t!
