Marion Mae Griffiths, 86
Marion Mae Griffiths was born on Feb. 2, 1929, and passed away peacefully on Jan. 14, 2016 — just 19 days shy of her 87th birthday. Marion was born in Tomahawk, Wis., and was the oldest of 10 children. At the age of 17, Marion came out west with her father Victor Lukes and settled in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Marion met and married Arch (Mick) Griffiths and they had two children together; son Mickey in 1949, and daughter Faye in 1952. The family purchased a small log home in Coeur d’Alene on the corner of 18th and Coeur d’Alene — 212 North 18th St. — in 1952, and lived there for the next 45 years.
Marion worked at the Gold Cup Cafe, the Toyota dealership, and retired from the Kootenai County Recorder’s office at the age of 60, in 1989.
Marion possessed a great sense of humor and laughter was always close at hand. Her love of dancing and socializing with friends brought many great experiences and opportunities for travel. Marion loved everyone, and loved to explore. She was always ready for a “road trip” and her next adventure. She was hard-working, genuinely kind, and always willing to help and contribute to any situation. She will always be missed, but lives on through the legacy of her immediate family: daughter Faye Griffiths, Otis Orchards, Wash.; daughter-in-law Debbie Ellis Griffiths, Prichard, Idaho; surviving siblings; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Arch (Mick) Griffiths and her son, Mickey Griffiths.
A celebration of life is planned at a later date.
“And if I go while you’re still here, know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure — behind a veil you cannot see through. You will not see me, so you must have faith. I will wait for the time when we can soar together again. Both aware of each other. Until then live your life to its fullest and when you need me, just whisper my name in your heart … and I will be there!”
